Orange Hospital
Setting: 26 bed acute medical unit
Timeframe: 12 months pre- and 12 months post-SIBR implementation
Summary: Increases in Patient Clinical Complexity Level in the Accountable Care Unit did not result in an increase in Length of Stay, but were associated with a decrease in the average cost of stay and ‘calls for clinical review’.
“Adjusted cost of stay was statistically significantly reduced in the SIBR unit: mean decrease of $1,650 AUD cost per stay. (Post-implementation sample size = 1410)
Meanwhile, it increased in the control units: mean increase of $170 AUD cost per stay. (Post-implementation control sample size = 6529.)“
