14+ Years of Frontline Innovation

When you focus on one thing, again and again, you keep getting better

'10

Born on an Acute Med-Surg Unit

Our founding physicians and nurses developed our care model at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. After launch, our first unit saw a 10% reduction in Length of Stay, 28% reduction in mortality & hospice discharges, and increases in average patient satisfaction, nurse communication scores, and physician communication scores.

'11

Refining our methods

Our Emory-based physicians and nurses began traveling and teaching other hospitals around the world. Unit after unit, our work produced strong outcomes. And we began our streak of winning national and international awards.

'15

A Delivery Team

Now that we had a repeatable formula, we turned our ad hoc Performance Improvement project into an organization, 1Unit, to help other units see the same results — more quickly, efficiently, and sustainably that doing it on their own.

'24

Excellence Through Practice

We’ve now helped 100s of units. Changing interdisciplinary teamwork used to be hard and risky. Our methodology delivers strong outcomes in a total package.
